Expectancy on Pain Responces

Abstract
The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of personality and inaccurate
expectancy on pain responces. Subjects(n=37) recieved 12 pain stimuli of varying intensity.
GSR and VAS were recorded.
@ES The results were: underprediction of pain were followed by raised expectations of pain.
And Galvanic Skin Responce to pain stimuli was dishabituated excepts to low arousal group.
Overpredictions of pain were related to escape responce.
This findings support to the notions that underpredictions of pain contributes to the escape
responces to pain, and the habituation process. Theoretical and clinical implications of this
findings were discussed.
